How to play Chainle Unlimited
Chainle is a word association game. Every Chainle round shows clue words with a gap between them, and your job is to type one word that belongs with every clue at once. There is no single right answer: your word is scored on how close in meaning it sits to each clue. Chainle Unlimited keeps that idea and lets you play as many rounds as you want.
- Read the clue words on both ends of the chain.
- Type one word and press Link it. You get one guess per round.
- Each chain grows toward your word as the meaning gets closer. A word that fits one clue but ignores the other only grows one chain, so it scores very little.
- After your guess, Chainle shows the strongest link we know, so you learn something every round.
- Five rounds make a Chainle game. In Unlimited mode the next game starts straight away.
The three round types
Two-word bridge: the classic Chainle round. Find a word that connects two clues, like ocean and pepper, which both go with salt. Three-word bridge: the same idea with three clues, which makes the target narrower and the round harder. Closest word: a single clue, and you type the word nearest to it in meaning. It is the easiest round, and a good place to bank points.
How Chainle scoring works
Each Chainle round is worth up to 1,000 points, so a full game is worth 5,000. The score rewards balance. Your word gets a closeness value for every clue, and the weakest of those values counts the most. That is why a word that is perfect for one clue and unrelated to the other scores far less than a word that fits both reasonably well.
| Link | Points | Example for ocean + pepper |
|---|---|---|
| Perfect link | 900–1,000 | salt |
| Strong link | 600–899 | seasoning, sodium |
| Loose link | 300–599 | water |
| One-sided link | 100–299 | sea, spice |
| No link | 0–99 | banana |
Closeness is measured with word vectors, a standard way to describe how often words appear in similar contexts. Words that show up around the same topics sit close together, which is why salt scores high for both ocean and pepper.
Chainle examples, explained
A few sample rounds show how the scoring thinks. None of these are from the daily Chainle, so nothing is spoiled.
tooth + thigh
The strongest link is bone: a tooth is a bone-like part of the mouth and the thigh holds the longest bone in the body. Leg scores well for thigh but barely moves the tooth chain, so it lands as a one-sided link.
shelf + minister
The answer is cabinet, which works in two different senses: a cupboard with shelves, and a group of government ministers. Rounds like this reward thinking about double meanings rather than the most obvious word for each clue.
storage + dome + treasury
A three-word bridge. Vault fits all three: a storage room, a curved roof and a place where a treasury keeps its gold. Safe covers storage and treasury but not dome, so it scores lower.
Closest word: enormous
Here you only need the nearest word in meaning. Huge, immense and gigantic all score highly, and the top one earns the full 1,000.
Daily Chainle, Unlimited and Endless
Daily Chainle
One set of five rounds per day, the same for every player. Finish it to keep your streak going, then copy your result and compare scores with friends. The daily Chainle changes at midnight in your time zone.
Chainle Unlimited
Fresh five-round games whenever you want them. There is no daily cap and no waiting for tomorrow, which makes it the best way to practise before the daily round.
Endless Chainle
Rounds keep coming until you make three weak links, meaning guesses under 300 points. Your best Endless score is saved separately, so you always have a number to beat.
How Chainle Unlimited differs from the original
Chainle is a daily word game by its own independent creator, and you can play it at chainle.io. Chainle Unlimited is PlayAnytime’s own version of the same idea, with our own puzzles, our own scoring and our own design. On top of a daily round, it adds Unlimited and Endless modes so you can keep playing after the daily puzzle is done.
PlayAnytime is not affiliated with or endorsed by the creators of Chainle. Play the original daily puzzle at chainle.io.
Chainle tips for stronger links
- Picture one sentence. Look for a word that could sit in a single sentence with both clues. Salt is on the ocean and next to the pepper.
- Check both sides. Before you press Link it, ask whether your word really fits the second clue. One-sided guesses are the most common way to lose points.
- Prefer common words. Everyday words usually link better than rare or technical ones.
- Watch for double meanings. If a clue has several meanings, pick the one that also suits the other clue. Bank can be money or a river.
- Use Unlimited to warm up. A few practice games make the daily Chainle round much easier.
Chainle questions
Is Chainle Unlimited free?
Yes. Every Chainle mode on PlayAnytime is free to play, with no account and nothing to download.
Is there an unlimited version of Chainle?
Yes, this page. Play the daily Chainle round, then switch to Unlimited for as many rounds as you like, or try Endless mode and see how long your chain lasts.
How does Chainle work?
Each Chainle round shows clue words with a gap between them. You type one word that connects the clues. The closer its meaning is to every clue, the higher your score, up to 1,000 points per round.
Is there only one correct answer in Chainle?
No. Many words can score well in Chainle. The strongest link earns the full 1,000 points, and the game shows it after your guess.
What happens if I type a word the game does not know?
Nothing is lost. Chainle Unlimited tells you it does not know the word and lets you try another one.
When does the daily Chainle reset?
The daily round changes at midnight in your own time zone. Unlimited and Endless modes never run out.
Is this the official Chainle?
No. Chainle Unlimited is PlayAnytime’s own take on the idea, with our own puzzles and scoring. It is not affiliated with the creators of Chainle. You can play the original at chainle.io.
